Casket Sprays & Coffin Flowers

A casket spray — also called coffin flowers or a coffin top — is the main floral tribute that rests on the coffin throughout the funeral, traditionally chosen by the immediate family. Ours are handcrafted in premium silk, so the flowers that accompany your loved one look perfect from the first viewing to the final goodbye — and can be kept forever afterwards.

This is the tribute everyone will see. It stands for the closest bonds — husband, wife, mum, dad — and it deserves to be exactly right. Every spray we make is arranged by hand in our Bromley studio: blooms individually placed and wired, colours chosen with you, and the whole piece built to sit securely and beautifully on the coffin through the service, the journey and the committal.

Handmade artificial casket spray in pink and white silk roses and lilies for a funeral in Kent

Half-Length or Full-Length — Choosing the Right Size

Size Coverage Usually chosen when
Half-length spray (around 24″) Sits over the upper part of the coffin Photographs, an open half-lid, or other tributes will share the coffin top
Large spray (around 36″) Covers most of the coffin top The spray is the centrepiece, with letter tributes carried alongside
Full-length spray Runs the full length of the coffin A single, dramatic tribute from the closest family — made to order

If you’re unsure, tell us a little about the service and we’ll recommend honestly — including when a smaller spray is genuinely the better choice.

Who Arranges the Coffin Flowers?

By tradition, the casket spray comes from the immediate family — a spouse, children, or parents — while wider family and friends give wreaths, hearts and tributes displayed alongside. If several of you are sharing the arrangements, our funeral packages combine a casket spray with letter tributes and accompanying pieces so everything matches on the day.

On the Day — We Work Around the Funeral

Tell us the date and the funeral director, and we’ll deliver wherever it needs to be — to your home, or directly to the funeral home ready for the morning. Because our flowers are silk, there’s no last-minute conditioning, no wilting in a warm chapel, and no worry if the service runs long or the weather turns. What you approved is exactly what rests on the coffin.

The Only Casket Flowers You Can Keep

Fresh coffin flowers are left at the crematorium or graveside and gone within days. A silk spray is different — after the service it can come home. Families keep the whole piece, divide the flowers between children and grandchildren as keepsakes, or move it to the grave, where our artificial grave flowers guidance covers keeping it beautiful outdoors. Some of the most touching messages we receive are from families months later, about a single silk rose from Dad’s spray kept on a bookshelf.

Made by Hand, to Be Looked At Closely

A casket spray is seen from a few feet away, by everyone, for the whole service — so the standard has to be higher. We build ours bloom by bloom: premium silk roses, lilies and seasonal flowers, wired stems, natural foliage lines, and a secured base so the spray sits perfectly still on the coffin.

Our promise: if a spray arrives damaged or loses its shape within 30 days, we replace it. No quibbles.

Delivery Across London, Kent & Surrey — In Time, Every Time

We hand-deliver across Bromley, London, Kent and Surrey, and send securely packaged sprays UK-wide. If the funeral is very soon, call us first — we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible in the time available.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a casket spray?

A casket spray is the main floral arrangement that rests on top of the coffin during the funeral. In the UK it’s often simply called the coffin flowers or coffin top, and it’s traditionally given by the immediate family.

Who should pay for or choose the coffin flowers?

Traditionally the spouse, children or parents of the person who has died. In practice, many families choose together — and if arrangements are being shared, we can coordinate the spray with letter tributes and wreaths so everything matches.

What size spray do I need for a coffin?

A half-length spray (around 24″) suits services where photographs or other tributes share the coffin top; a large spray (around 36″) covers most of it; a full-length spray runs the whole coffin and is made to order. Standard UK coffins are around 6 feet, so a 36″ spray reads as generous without overwhelming.

Can the casket spray be delivered to the funeral director?

Yes — this is the most common arrangement. Give us the funeral home’s details and the date, and we’ll deliver ready for the morning of the service, or to your home if you’d rather bring it yourself.

Can we keep the spray after the funeral?

Yes — this is silk’s quiet gift. Keep it whole, divide the flowers between family as keepsakes, or move it to the grave as a lasting tribute. Nothing is thrown away days later.

What colours are appropriate for coffin flowers?

Whites and creams are the enduring tradition; soft pinks and lilacs feel gentle; rich reds speak of deep love. But the most remembered sprays are personal — their favourite colour, their garden, their team. There is no wrong answer.

How far in advance should we order?

Three to five days is comfortable; we regularly help at shorter notice. If the service is imminent, phone before ordering online and we’ll confirm what’s possible.

Are artificial flowers appropriate on a coffin?

Yes — and often chosen deliberately. A silk spray looks immaculate for the entire service regardless of heat, cold or delay, photographs beautifully, and can be kept by the family afterwards rather than left behind.
